What We Do

Our Vision

To nurture resilient communities by addressing wellbeing and access to justice challenges though the provision of community legal, mental health counselling and social work services.

We seek to…

  1. engage communities and collaborative partnerships to create a culture self-reliance by encouraging cooperative participation.
  2. be a learning organization that provides professional development and career laddering opportunities for immigrant social workers, lawyers, mental health therapist etc in collaboration with relevant professional regulatory bodies.
  3. engage in implementation research using high quality social science research to inform program development, implementation and evaluation.

Guiding Principles – Our Approach

In all it does, Reez Community Foundation will:

  • Plan with people not for them: Any detailed action plan must arise from ongoing dialogue that reflect their most pressing concerns.  We ill remain grounded in the community.
  • Undertake action and analysis simultaneously: Engage in continuing evaluation, self-reflection, adjustment, refinement and retraining as needed whilst implementing our action plan.
  • Commit to nurturing constructive partnerships: Gain allies by being an ally.
  • Have a firm handle on discrimination: Articulate a clear understanding of racism and its inter-sectional implications.  Strive to candidly address these in all relevant interactions to facilitate the progressing of information into knowledge and then wisdom.

    Did you know?

You and/or your child can help each other to regulate your emotions when you are struggling.  Remember! Your brain and your relationships are power sources to:

    • Calm your fear.  Use logic (upstairs brain).
    • Control Impulses: Use your upstairs brain to put a space between your impulse and actions
    • Name it to tame it – Name whatever is causing distress. It has a calming effect (Siegel).
    • Connect & Redirect: Tune into another’s experience (compassion) and mental state (empathy), then redirect.
